Rag Pick #1 Feather Blade Ring
So this is a new section that I decided to add to this space with the intention of simply showing super special items that I bump into. This time it's a ring from Hayley Lawrence and her brand Fox Tale. It comes in two shades of brass and features a super interesting design whereby the top motifs overlap on several fingers. One word: awesome.

Mystic#2 Janajati Artwork
After quite a substantial absence it's time to shed some light on creative beings again. This time it's time to turn our heads to a sister from Spain, Laura and her brand Janajati Artwork. I had the opportunity to meet Laura several times in Transition Festival, a really good festival close to Seville that is held every year round Easter time, officially opening the festival season.

Laura is a girl that is difficult to miss, big smile and clad in her favourite colours: purple and green, it seems that she is a citizen from another planet. Later on I found out that Laura is a very skilled and talented clothing artist based in Barcelona. Her signature oversized hoods, patchwork skirts and chunky leg warmers can be recognized as her work straight away. She is a genius in mixing colours, overlapping different textures and making several patterns all work in harmony, something which is very difficult to acheive. Another one of Laura's gifts is colour. The amount of tones and shades in her colour palette is truly something inspiring. Laura also makes very interesting pouch bags that are fitted onto belts with brass hardware.
Feminine, mystical and full of love, Janajati Artwork embodies the true spirit of a way of life. Simply Inspirational.

Sunskrit Stories #1 - Merdan's Travel Journal
So I've been pretty barren lately when it comes to creative work. Starting my degree in fashion design has taken up most of my time and mental energy and I think it's about time I do something about it and get back to making and creating. One thing I made time for was a very special travel journal for a very special friend who is about to enbark on his first venture to India. I fell in love with making mandalas out of studs quite some time ago and by this time they have become one of my not so secret ingredients that I like throwing in almost every creative equation. For this project I simply bought a ready made hardback notepad bound in fabric and dedicated most of my energies on the mandala itself, a good two hours of good, clean, creative fun. I wonder how many stories and adventures this mandala will guard. Anyway, hope you like it and I promise to take a better picture next time :D
Yours Truly

Mystic#1 Siamic Wear
The first artisan to break the ice on this blog is Erika, the mastermind behind Siamic Wear. After finishing fashion school Erika parted ways with making clothes until the festival season of 2012 were the inspiration from the psychedelic tribe rekindled her love for making wearable art. She started off making macrame jewellery and slowly drifted to making clothes as well as jewellery from recycled leather. In fact Erika gets most of her inspiration from the lovely smiley people of the psytrance scene as well as sacred geometry, mother nature and anything that grabs her attention.
"I want to make clothing that makes people feel good and free and pretty. I don´t like nice things, which make you stiff and break the flow. So it´s actually most important to be comfortable and feel good, like if it´s a part of your body." - Erika
Siamic wear has an aesthetic of subtle contrasts. Studs and strong shapes are coupled with draping fabric and loose fitting garments. The colours are washed and natural with soft olive greens, rust brown, ash greys and black. Erika's background in illustration shows through in her hand painted work. Mandalas, Sacred Geometry and Tribal designs that are glowing like hot cinders with intensity and warmth. Her latest work also includes some funkier prints, shredded fabric, designs made of studs and last but not least works of art engraved in leather accessories.
Although most of her work is for girls, Erika's custom painted hoodies and t shirts for guys are truly masterpieces. Erika is a true creative star child. Her clothes are full of hours of intense love and passion and meticulous craftsmanship. Truly inspiring. Truly Siamic.

Hello Creatures
Finally it's all
happening
You have no idea what a
long journey it has been till this very moment. I had the idea for
this blog ages, dare I say years, ago. I wanted a place to showcase
and share things that inspire me, people that I love and anything in
between. My main interest is art, specifically art that can be worn; with a keen interest for the art of artisans, designers and brands from the global psychedelic
scene. Whenever I stumbled across something mind blowing I never had
people to share it with, so this is exactly why I decided to embark
on this journey. So here it is, a place where people can inspire and
admire the amazing creativity of certain special people.
The work is already cut
out for me, and I can’t wait to get the ball rolling. I’ll be
posting features about artists that I admire as well as reviews of
more established brands. One thing is certain, you’ll be spoilt
for choice as I go along. I also intend to write about the
overlapping interests that I notice as I admire all of you out there.
The second intention
behind this journal is to document and share my own creative journey,
letting you into my house and into my world, sharing with you what
I’ve been up to and love doing.
Hope you’ll enjoy
this as much as I already do. Our creativity is there to be
celebrated and fulfilled, so I guess enjoy the ride and please feel
free to contact me with any suggestions, random thoughts and
unexpected hugs.
Much much love
